Frequently Asked questions Will the kids be able to do this activity without one-on-one adult participation? Answer: A three year old can almost handle this project on their own, but they may need help in stuffing the arms and legs because of their small hands. They will also need help filling out the birth certificate. Older children can pretty much handle this on their own. How do you attach the "skins" if it is "no sew"? Answer: The skins come fully sewn with an opening in the back for the stuffing. The back of the skins are closed with a one way zipper so the stuffing won't come out. The "no sew" idea is for the closure. The animals have a one way zipper (the zipper will open and close until you cut off the pull string - once the string is cut, you will not be able to open the zipper by hand). Some animals also have a velcro closure to hide the zipper. Do the party packages come with the "wishing star"? If so, what is that? Answer: Each bag of stuffing has a pre-printed set of instructions and a silky star. This star is referred to as a wishing star and the children can make a wish on the star that will be with their animal forever. The star is placed in the animal before the zipper is zipped shut. How do the birth certificates work. Do the kids fill them out? Answer: The birth certificates are colorful certificates the children can fill in with their animals birth date, the animals name, what it is filled with - like 'filled with love' or 'filled with strength and honesty'. They can also list the eye color and who it belongs to. Each certificate is pre-signed by 'Made With Kisses And Hugs!' as the official signature. Are the t-shirts blank? I am thinking about having the kids decorate the t-shirts as part of the activity. If they are blank do you recommend fabric crayons or markers? Answer: The t-shirts offered in the party packages are blank. They come in white, red, blue or purple. I prefer coloring on white shirts but you could use any color. Colored fabric markers work well - I have never used fabric crayons. With the markers you may want to put a piece of paper inside the shirt to keep designs on the front from bleeding onto the back as they are being colored. Do you have a sense of how much time we should allot for the kids to do this project? Answer: This project without decorating t-shirts will take anywhere from 20 - 45 minutes - depending how much visiting takes place. If you add decorating t-shirts, you could stretch it to an hour and a half or so, depending on how chatty your guests are. What are the traveling boxes. What do they look like? Is there a picture on the site? Answer: The traveling boxes come flat and need to be put together (bottom tabs interlock to hold the bottom square and together). There is a plastic "window" on one side that the animal can "see out of". There is also the option of a clear backpack. These backpacks have different colored cords but the plastic is clear. The animals can sit in the backpack and the children can carry them around on their backs. Pictures of both are shown in the accessories section of the website. Are the animals 15" tall sitting down, or 15" head to toe? Answer: The large animals are generally 15" from head to toe - some are a little longer than others. What is the usual time needed for shipping? Answer: If we have everything in stock , we can usually ship within a couple days. You can decide how you want the order shipped - ground, express, next day -- the website will give you shipping estimates before you confirm and finalize your order. Shipping ground to a residence is the most cost effective shipping method. Orders shipped ground federal express can take anywhere from 1 to 10 days to arrive - depending on what state you are in. When placing a large order, I get kicked out or an error message appears concerning shipping charges and weight errors.  What should I do? Answer:  If you encounter this problem, please email pam@madewithkissesandhugs.net  .  Larger orders can still be processed, but the shipping program cannot handle weights past a certain point automatically.  This program can only calculate if everything goes in 1 box.  Some larger orders are broken down into multiple boxes and we handle those a little differently.
